Laughing Boy

Characters: My 'deer', Laughing Boy. Character design.

Notes: So I sort of discovered this very odd game called The Endless Forest, where you are basically a deer that goes around being a deer, WITH A FACE. It is both terrifying and adorable. Anyway, I really wanted something to draw recently and when I saw all the marvy artwork at The Endless Forest Forum I got inspired.
This is 'my deer', Laughing boy. He likes to laugh! He got his name from the pictogram, which sort of reminds me of a small child rofling. Thus LB's nickname: Ralphie :D

Notes: Two drawings I created as illustration for my children's story Taupi's Bird.

Taupi is a not-very-good-at-it apprentice monk who hears a strange bird cry. After being rebuffed by the high priestess, he sneaks out to find it. His actions save the bird and grant him respect within his community. Hurrah!

Notes: A little sketch I did of Lucas and his transformed form, Nameless the big husky. Lucas is holding his dog-mask in his hand. This picture may or may not be jossed in some way when Sam puts together his rewrite, but I had to draw him. I had trouble with it though - I always imagined him with dark hair.

Notes: Concept sketch more than anything else. I know what sort of picture I want to make but don't quite seem able to get it. I think I'll either rework this in pencil, or perhaps tradtional art techniques would be better. I see the boy as a part of nature: here he runs through the snow, as though he's barely there...

Title: Bloodrush and Tea
Fandom: Being Human
Rating: PG13 for language
Summary: When Mitchell does something unforgiveable, it's Annie who is the deepest hurt. Angstish, hints of Mitchell/Annie and George/Nina. 2200 words.
Notes: Set after season one, episode three; toying with the idea of blood as a drug, and the difference between Owen and Mitchell.  My first Being Human piece, so I'm having trouble pinning down characters. Thus this: short and sweet. Con/Crit very much appreciated.

Annie was the worst of it all, leaping in and out of perspective, blurred and dark and bright and sharp in an instant. )

Title: Peter Over London
Fandom/Source Material:
Peter Pan of Kensington Gardens
Media: Digital, Art Rage 2
Rating: G
Notes: The baby Peter is whisked away by fairies and taken to Kensington Gardens. I took the idea and made it bigger, I guess - it looks more like he's going to Neverland, but most adaptations like to screw with that part of the canon, so meh. I made this to play with my new tablet, and also because Peter Pan is one of those stories that means a lot to me.

Title: Dreaming
Fandom: Ballykissangel
Rating: PG
Summary: Sometimes Peter dreams that everything happened differently. Peter/Assumpta, AU, 400 words.
Notes: If there's a scene I hated from BK, it was Peter giving Assumpta the sacrament after the electric shock - it felt horrible to watch and see the other characters force Peter into doing it. It felt like a nightmare.  And while I doubt I'll ever write a P/A post-Reckoning non-death fic, if I did I'd like it to include a scene like this one. Originally posted at [info]aimsleydale.

News: A new beginning

So, my little library has undergone a complete redecoration and a complete change in its purpose. I had meant to use this place as somewhere to keep all the things that inspire me, most of them private-locked; somewhere to keep copies of things I liked off the internet, single poems, good fanart, etc. It was a nice idea, but terribly dull in practice, and somewhat sketchy in terms of copyrights and so forth. I never put anything in it and never visited it. Plus, I really wanted somewhere specifically for my writing and art and everything.

And that is the new purpose of my private library; a catalogue of my own work. Somewhere to put all of the things I'm doing at university alongside all of my own projects and my fanart and fanfiction. Basically, [info]aimsleydale's creative journal. And that's what it is!

So: no shouting, no running, no nookie in the stacks. Please treat the books with care. And please enjoy :)

Inspiration: Song of the Sainted - Unkown

A little poem I found while researching my History AS when I was seventeen. I love history, but I absolutely hated the AS course and failed it because I didn't show up to a single lesson. It was a mixture of subject material (Hitler? Again? Gah!) and teaching methods and though I regret failing it, I'm not angry with myself for doing so.

This poem, however, always stuck with me. It's not high art, it's not even very well written, but it contains so much naked, bitter anger that it still haunts me, especially the last few lines.

Song of the Sainted.

I ran across this song in an awesome X-Files video by [info]xandra_ptv and it's now one of my favourite songs ever. I've been trying to make a Ballykissangel vid to it myself, because it's basically the entire Peter/Assumpta dynamic in a nutshell - but I can't stand bloody windows moviemaker and that's all I got :(

My favourite part of this song is probably the third verse. There's a slight change of tempo there that really grabs me.
